Fabricação
Fabricação is one of the artisan classes in Ashes of Creation. It is a driving force for the game economy.[2][3]
- Crafting in Ashes of Creation is recipe-based not RNG based.[4][5][6][7][8]
- Crafting stations are located on freeholds or within nodes.[9][10]
- Higher tier crafting stations are unlocked with node progression.[11]
- Players can only craft up to journeyman level on freeholds.[12]
- Top tier crafting stations are present at all node types, however Academic nodes offer additional bonuses to crafting performed there.[13]
- Artisan gear will enable crafting of stronger items.[14][15]
- Crafting times may vary between professions but the bulk of the time spent in the artisan system resides in the processing branch.[16]
- Not every crafting profession is able to craft consumables.[17]
- The developers are seeking feedback on the addition of a gameplay layer to crafting that determines the outcome based on the player's performance.[18][19]
- The developers are debating whether this occurs on a craft-by-craft basis or a one-off basis following after a new level of certification has been achieved.[18]
- This will be revealed when it is ready to be showcased.[18]
- There will not be a labor or energy system in Ashes of Creation.[20]

Artisan progression occurs based on experience (repetition of tasks) as well as achievements of certain benchmarks within each artisan branch (Coleta, Processamento and Fabricação).[29][30] Progression in each artisan profession is per-character.[31][32][33][34]
- All 22 professions, the players get to be novice of; and then it starts narrowing from there. So, after that you'll only be able to be apprentice of five things. You can be a journeyman in four things. You can be a master in three things; and you can be a grandmaster in two things. So you'll need to narrow, but you can also diversify to support the professions that you want to first push further in.[22] – Kory Rice
- Progression to each "tier" within a profession grants skill points that can be utilized in a character's artisan skill tree.[36]
- Artisan certification quests must be completed to gain proficiency in that tier of artisan progression.[29] Completing certification unlocks benefits for that profession, such as artisan tools for gathering professions and recipes for crafting professions.[37][38]
- There are limits to the number of professions at each certification tier across the three artisan branches.[21][27][39][22][40] For example: a character may only ever be a Master in up to 3 professions and Grandmaster in up to 2 professions across all artisan branches.[21][27]
- Grandmaster artisans can max out their entire profession skill tree, but a character can only be a grandmaster of up to two professions.[41]
- Achieving an artisan certification in a profession also implies that the character also achieved any lower-tier certifications up to that point.[42]
- If you are grand master in that profession you can max out the entire tree. But you can only grand master 2 things.[41] – Kory Rice
- Choosing a specific path in the skill tree allows the player an opportunity to specialize in a certain area. This encourages player inter-dependency, enhancing the artisan experience.[43]
- Progression within artisan classes does not directly relate to progression in a character's adventuring class, but there are requirements that take into account dangers, locations, toolsets, and surveying options that are dependent on adventuring level.[44][45][46]
- Characters gain XP as they progress their professions.[47][38]
- It should be expected that some artisans will have significantly higher artisan level than their adventuring level.[47][44]
- Q: In regards to character level and artisan level. We know that currently there are two separate things. That being said, what prevents a player from staying level one and partying up with a level 50 player to then gather level 50 resources in the high zones? That way, anyone who wants to take those resources will have to kill the gatherer who is level one and get a large amount of corruption for killing a level one as a level 50.
- A: Gathering higher level resources requires significant advancement within a particular profession for that gatherable resource. So, if I'm a Miner and I want to access the highest possible mineral, I need to be a master miner; and in order to achieve the master minor status I am going to be gaining adventuring level experience through that process, because many of those quest lines, many of those achievements are facilitated through quest lines. Some of those quest lines interface with adventuring difficulties that are out in the wild at certain levels. So that's going to predicate me- that's going to be a predicate for me to achieve a certain level in order to complete some of these quest lines and achieve that master status. So you will you will likely not see the ability of a level one alt character having the access to high level mineral mining, or any other type of gatherable out there.[44] – Steven Sharif
Recipes
Fabricação in Ashes of Creation is recipe (blueprint, schematic) based, not RNG based.[4][5][6][7][8]
- Recipes that are obtained must be committed to a player's recipe book (by right-clicking on the recipe item). This "consumes" the recipe item and unlocks the ability to craft the item in question.[5][49]
- Artisans must have the required artisan certification to learn recipes at that level (or lower).[37]
- Recipes can be traded or sold prior to them being committed into a player's recipe book.[49]
- In most cases learned recipes are permanently added to a character's recipe book, but in certain unique cases there will be a "charge count" where learned recipes will disappear from the recipe book after a number of uses.[5]
- Once a recipe is learned, it cannot be shared with other characters, including alts.[50]
- Recipes have slots for required and selectable crafting materials. Adding higher rarity selectable materials increases the rarity of the crafted item.[4][51][52][53][54] Choosing different selectable materials can also result in crafted items with different statblocks and unique properties.[55][56]
- These are the things we want to explore on [the] crafting side, where we introduce maybe new stat lines, or a different proportion or ratios of stats at certain tiers; and when you craft these items using better materials, the rarity of the item increases. For demonstration purposes we're using legendary, but basically when you use a higher tier than the recipe is intended for- so we could technically build this item with common copper and zinc fragments, then that would produce an uncommon item. But, since we're showcasing this at legendary tier, you can move up the tiers and have the stats increase.[53] – Mike Han
- Recipes may have an XP component, where crafting that recipe multiple times can level up the recipe and unlock better results.[51][58]
- Something unique in our crafting system [is] where we want to have recipe XP of some sort; and then those sub-recipes could [be] earned by leveling up your recipe, which means that you have to craft the Nightblade multiple times to level it up to have a better result. The sub-recipe could be from a vendor recipe or world drops like we said earlier, but the idea is one type of item can have potential to be multiple different outcomes.[58] – Mike Han
- While selectable materials offer a wide degree of customization, crafting results must lie broadly within the realms of the recipe's definition; and so cannot be arbitrarily customized.[59][57][60]
- Q: Will players have the ability to innovate within the crafting system creating unique items or designs? If so, how much customization can players expect when it comes to crafting their own gear or items?
- A: There are statically defined an array of results that can come out of a particular recipe; and your ability to unlock those results is predicated on what composition of resources you contribute to crafting that particular weapon type; and so in that sense, yes crafters will have the ability to uniquely create certain types of the recipes results, based on how they're contributing resources to it. The result has to have a corresponding recipe definition; and so in that sense it isn't completely customizable to the point where the player gets to uniquely create these particular items, but rather they are discovering what creations are possible with each recipe type.[59] – Steven Sharif
Obtaining recipes
Crafting recipes in Ashes of Creation can be obtained in different ways.[5][57][61][62]
- From profession NPCs.[63]
- Purchasing from vendors.[64][63][5]
- Trading/buying from other players.[5][57]
- Drops from mobs and bosses.[64][63][5][57][61]
- Reputation rewards.[63]
- Deconstructing/disassembling rare item drops from bosses can yield recipes that can be used to replicate that item.[57][62]
- Through treasure hunting.[64][57]
- Through repetition of specific activities.[57]
- Progressão within a social organization, such as the Thieves' guild or Scholar's academy.[64][61]
- Based on status within a religious organization/church.[64][61]
- Recipes have differing rarities and may be locationally dependent.[57]
- We're definitely going to have rare recipes. We're going to have a very active recipe market that how players find them and how they discover them is going to be very diverse. It's not just going to be drop oriented. It's going to be discovery, adventurism, treasures, repetition of a particular activity that might yield something, deconstruction that might learn how to create a recipe. There's a lot of different functionality that's present that's going to be utilized.[57] – Steven Sharif
- Completing questlines.[61]
- Becoming Mayor may unlock specific node-related recipes.[61]
- Gaining a title.[61]
- By constructing certain buildings on a freehold.[61]
- A royalty system where players can license recipes to other players for a certain amount of time and collect royalties was discussed as a possibility.[62]
Race or class locked crafting
Fabricação will not be race or class locked.[65]
Crafting mechanics
The developers will be seeking testing feedback on the addition of a gameplay layer to crafting that determines the outcome based on the player's performance.[19]
- For example, if you're creating a sword, and you are crafting that sword, you will have an interface- a gameplay layer that you will see and you will begin to hammer actually that sword into an appropriate outline. And your performance there can help influence the outcome of that craft.[19] – Steven Sharif
- It is likely that Star Wars Galaxies inspired crafting mechanics will be present in Ashes of Creation.[67]
- Without getting into too much detail I will say that it's likely that you will see some inspiration surface itself in that regard.[67] – Steven Sharif
- Previously it was stated that repetitive skill-based crafting mechanics, such as mini-games, are not an intended part of the crafting experience.[67][68]
- We did discuss that type of a feature where the skill of the crafter would grant a greater window of skill-based type crafting. So the higher master level you have of crafting a certain item, the greater your potential to impact the quality of that item might be... The concern obviously that we have when going into developing this type of system is that we don't want what is a fun - for lack of a better term - mini-game to be something that becomes repetitive and makes it monotonous... If when we start to flesh out the crafting system and we take a look at that interaction of melding crafting, the actual activity of making something, there is room in the design sheet for different iterations of that particular action; and we may see something come about that can be skill oriented, but that's something that's going to require a lot of testing and different iterations from a design standpoint.[68] – Steven Sharif
Crafting materials
Crafting materials (also known as Processed goods) are obtained in the following ways:
The rarity of crafting materials influences the quality of the crafted items.[4][52][53][54]
- Q: Are crafting materials going cross tiers? For example, using higher level materials in lower level recipes, or low level materials in a higher level recipe? Is that allowed?
- A: Yes.[4] – Steven Sharif
It's unlikely that crafting materials to craft all pieces of equipment will be able to be sourced solely by farming open-world dungeons.[73]
- It's unlikely that organized parties will be able to get all of the materials they need to craft every piece of equipment from farming open world dungeons alone.[73] – Cody Peterson
Players drop materials and other items upon death, based on their applicable death penalties.[74][75][76][77]
High-level materials
Materials for crafting high-level items are obtained from world bosses and through the deconstruction of other high-level items.[71]
Many end level items with crafting will require mats from world bosses etc. we want those systems intertwined. However. There may be opportunities to deconstruct high level items and replace those needed materials as well. We will be testing the crafting trees in alpha and beta.[71] – Steven Sharif

List of crafted items
Skills and stats on gear
Crafters will be able to assign different skills/abilities and stats on gear.[84][85]
- Crafters will be able to 'rejigger' stat blocks; and there will be a couple of other ways to move things around to create both the look and the stat block that you're looking for. It's not always going to be easy. There will be a lot of challenges involved with that. But the goal is to give you guys the option to customize your gear the way you want them to be.[84] – Jeffrey Bard
- Master crafters will be able to influence several (but not all) stats on their crafted items.[84][86]
- Stats on crafted items will vary based on the item's rarity.[87]
- There will also be methods of moving stat blocks around but this won't necessarily be an easy task.[88][84]
- All gear will be able to be assigned any stat.[84]
Gear is broken down into Core Stats and Additional Stats.[89]
Item creation suite
An "item creation suite" that allows crafters to create unique appearances for items has been discussed as a future possibility.[90]
Relics

Artisan supply chain
Artisans within Ashes of Creation must choose a path in their artisan skill tree. This inter-dependency establishes a supply chain from raw materials to finished product.[96][70] Each stage of the chain may require caravans to transport goods from one artisan to another.[43]

As a crafter you're going to want to know where certain recipes can be fulfilled; which nodes have the capability of creating what you've processed material that you've gathered for; and then you're going to want to plan out your route to either transit the goods there or make sure that you're situated in the area so that you can go out collect and build in that area as well. Upgrading items
Enchanting is not an artisan profession in its own right. Scribes create scrolls that can be utilized by different professions to create enchantments relating to that profession.[106][107]

- You don't really push a particular item's level requirement or the identity of that item. You can enhance it, you can add enchantments to it, but it's still the item it is.[109] – Steven Sharif
Repairing items
Item repair will cost crafting materials.[112][111][113]
- 0% durability will unequip items, increasing its repair cost.[114]
- Damaged gear can be reforged at a player stall using a portion of the materials that were necessary to craft the item.[115][116][111]
- There may be additional constraints for repairing "very unique items", such as having a crafter and recipe to effectuate repairs. This is subject to testing.[117]
- There is no limit to the number of times an item can be repaired.[118]
There will be ways to repair destructible structures (such as walls and gates) and also repair (or re-craft) siege weapons that were damaged during sieges.[119]
- There's a lot of ancillary activities that can be had during sieges... It's obviously strategy and tactics and raid-versus-raid components, but also you want to have individual contributions where players can do things during the siege to aid in the greater effort so to speak; and it doesn't require you having 50 people by your side to effectuate that influence over something. So repairs are great ways to do that. Repairs for walls, repairs for gates, being able to spawn and essentially craft the designs for specific types of siege weapons to provide those to the team.[119] – Steven Sharif

Caravan components
Caravanas are constructed from components at caravan master NPCs in caravansary service buildings within

- Caravan components modify caravan stats and grant passive and active abilities to the caravan. Higher tier components will increase a caravan's power and capabilities.[121]
- If you're a solo player and you don't intend on transiting a lot of materials at once, you may not need the large cargo capacity, but instead you want the faster speed because you intend to outrun any potential adversaries that you might face on the roads. That is a viable strategic option for you when constructing your caravan. In addition, you saw that there are a number of different abilities that caravans can be equipped with based on the loadout of the components that you have for your caravan that is also going to influence how you interact with PvP and potential adversaries.[126] – Steven Sharif
- Caravan components obtained from crafters may have stats according to the skill of the artisan.[123][125]
- If components are missing, default versions with lowest stat values will be applied to the caravan.[123][124][125]
- In order to construct caravan at the caravansary, you go to caravansary and you say hey I've got all these components and I want to construct a caravan; and the caravansary will accept the components that you have: It will use those components. If you don't have components for certain parts of the caravan it will give you default versions, which will be lowest stat value that that caravan can then have.[123] – Steven Sharif
- Caravan components and caravan skins both affect a caravan's appearance.[121]
- Caravan components can be upgraded while the caravan is parked in a caravansary stall at a node.[128]
- Caravan components can be individually destroyed by directional attacks against the caravan. All components are destroyed if the caravan is destroyed.[129]
- Caravan components can affect the proximity radius for the notification of nearby players of caravan PvP events.[126]
Ship building
Ship building can be carried out by any player in possession of the right components, recipes, and an advanced enough node, coastal or not, with a harbor.[132][133][134][135]
- Various professions can craft ship components.[133][134] These components can be sold to other players.[136]
- Ships may only be crafted or upgraded in harbor ship workstations that are unlocked by the advancement of nearby nodes.[132] Previously this was stated to be coastal nodes.[133][136][137][138]
- Players can choose which "joints" get populated with either offensive weaponry, defensive, or utility attachments they want on their ship prior to construction completion.[131][139][140] The types of attachments that are available are dictated by the ship's class.[131]
- Ships will likely not have closed spaces or internal compartments such as Captain's quarters.[145]
- We are trying to stay away from internal compartments within the ships because that presents a whole different type of user interface and flow that can be a bit cumbersome and problematic, especially in combat and in closed spaces. So we're trying to stay away from that under deck aspect and keep things all on deck for better readability on the player side.[146] – Steven Sharif
Backpacks
Backpacks (also referred to as a Bags) are craftable items that provide personal inventory space.[150][151][152][153][154]
- Backpacks offer varying stack sizes and/or spatial inventory shapes that are optimized for carrying different items.[147][153]
- Gatherer's backpacks are intended to carry gatherable resources in spatial inventory slots relating to specific gathering professions.[147][153]
- Adventurer's backpacks are intended to carry consumables and items in non-spatial inventory slots.[153]
- These bags have specifically curated benefits for stack sizes of the type of resources they relate to and that's the specific profession of gathering and the resources you would gain from those those different unique professions.[147] – Steven Sharif
- Profession NPCs sell lower level backpacks.[155] Higher level backpacks are crafted by players.[150][151][152][153]
- There's item progression as it relates to quality of bags, types of bags, and the materials they're most used for. Some of them are more PvP oriented that can reduce significantly drop rates for PvP as a result of that progression.[152] – Steven Sharif
- Artisans must meet the required artisan certification to equip backpacks of that level (or lower).[156]
- A character currently may equip up to 3 artisan backpacks, but is subject to change.[157]
- Backpacks are equippable (visually) in a character's back slot.[148][160]
- Backpacks are only able to be equipped by player characters.[161]
- Some backpack types may have additional stats on them.[162]
- Some of those bags might have increased times to interact with a player corpse and you can choose to perhaps have less capacity, less stack size, less slot availability for the certain types of gatherables you may want to acquire in exchange for an increased interaction time for other players that might try to loot that bag, giving you time to reach it and take back your belongings. Or, if in the middle of a fight they see a corpse on the ground and they're like wait a minute, I want to grab that. Well, if I got to spend 10 seconds to interact with that corpse and there's combat going on, this is an opportunity strategically for you to recapture the grounds- for you to recapture the battlefield. You want to think about those types of interactions. How do you add layers of strategy to engagements and and there's ways to do that through inventory management as well.[163] – Steven Sharif
