Revisão das 21h01min de 3 de outubro de 2019
Cosméticos provide a wide array of customization in Ashes of Creation.[3]
- There are no pay-to-win gameplay benefits from any purchasable items.[2][4]
- All skin cosmetic items are cosmetic items only and do not grant the user any other benefit. The lore text is flavor text, and background of the creatures and items in the world of Verra.[1]
- Types of cosmetics:
- Equitable cosmetics, both from a quantity and quality standpoint, are achievable through in-game means.[5][6] Cosmetics achievable in-game will be on-par, and in the case of legendary skins, even more elaborate than shop items.[7][8][2]
- I want to make sure that equitable cosmetics both from a quantity and quality standpoint are achievable through in-game achievements. Time, effort should let you be happy with what you can accomplish.[6] – Steven Sharif
- In my opinion quality of cash shop cosmetics should be equal to in game achievable cosmetics, but offer a diverse selection of unique looks.[9] – Steven Sharif
- There will be legendary cosmetics that are only achievable in-game that will never be offered in the cosmetic shop.[7][8][2]
- The most grand looking cosmetics will be from in-game achievment only.[10] – Steven Sharif
- There will not be recolors or material swaps on the monthly cosmetics as a means to populate in-game achievements.[7]
- There will be variants of the monthly cosmetics for NPCs and Mobs.[7][11]
- Component pieces of cosmetic armor may be reused in other in-game achievable gear sets.[7]
- From an armor standpoint, we cut armor sets up into many different pieces. These pieces can sometimes be used as part of other sets, that may include helmets, wrists, gloves etc. So while you will not see an achievable white version of the corvid castigator set in the game for example, you may see its shoulder piece used in another set, or its leggings, or wrist piece used in another set (not every piece as to form the whole set, but perhaps a couple pieces). This would be difficult to notice at first glance, due to the material, texture and color variation used, but this modular approach to content creation makes achieving a wide variety of looks achievable for an MMORPG of our size.[7] – Steven Sharif
- Different variants of store purchased cosmetic creatures (Pets and Montarias) may exist in the wild.[12][13]
- While the exact same skin will not be available again in the future once it's gone from the Shop, these skins are all variants of creatures that you can expect to see across Verra - so perhaps you will find one with a similar style in-game![12] – Sarah Flanagan
- Cosméticos can be used by all races but there may be slight variations to make them work with the body builds of each race.[14][15]
- There will not be mascot looking/furry cosmetics.[16]
- It's important to remember, Ashes is a NO-BOX COST subscription only game, with an optional cosmetic marketplace. This achieves a few things from a monetization model. Having a lower barrier to entry for players to try the game when they don't have to fork out $60 for the box price is good, our box price is 0$. This also places an emphasis on the game's retention and our continual updates and content creation to keep players playing and staying subscribed (a put your money where your mouth is sort of philosophy for us as a company). It also means players don't have to spend $60 every time there is an expansion.[7] – Steven Sharif
- Is there an answer that satisfies everyone? Nope. And that's ok. We are open and transparent with our philosophies and business model. You know what you are getting with Ashes and to me, given my experiences in other games, it is a nice breath of fresh air.[7] – Steven Sharif
- Costume and pet cosmetics don't have a level restriction. Building, ship, caravan and mount cosmetics require an in-game item to be obtained first to apply the cosmetic.[17][18]
- I know there have been quite a few questions regarding cosmetics over the years. As we get further along in development, we'll be providing more specific information regarding what specific buildings, items, etc., you can place each cosmetic on. We'll update this for all past items.[19] – Margaret Krohn
- Cosméticos are not tradeable with other players but can be reassigned to other characters (alts) within the same account.[20][21]
Artistic style
Ashes of Creation will have a higher graphical fidelity than most western games. It will not be too stylized or "cartoony".[23]
- We can push the limits a little bit on the graphical fidelity, especially using Unreal Engine 4... My desire was not to see very cartoony games. I'm not a big fan of highly stylized art.[23] – Steven Sharif
- It's not to say that people can't do steampunk well. I've enjoyed some steampunk stuff. I'm a very high fantasy oriented type of storyteller; and the inspiration for Ashes obviously comes from my pathfinder campaigns that I ran long ago; and those are always set in a high fantasy world. So it just compromises what I believe is the perspective of the storytelling in the environment.[24] – Steven Sharif
- Estúdios intrépidos does not use AI for art production.[25]
- We do not use AI for production, except in unique internal cases when communicating fast reference material.[25] – Steven Sharif
Obtaining cosmetics
Some cosmetics can be obtained in-game:[26]
Conquistas may unlock some cosmetics.[26]
Not all cosmetics are obtainable through in-game means. These will be purchasable through the cosmetic store.[26]
Cash shop cosmetics will be limited in quantity, limited in time for purchase. They will be unique, but you will also have extremely difficult to gain cosmetics in game as well as unique cosmetics that look great and better... There will be a lot of cosmetics that are achievable in the game because that is a very fun aspect of MMO play.[27] – Steven Sharif
Pre-order packs
Pre-order packs were available from the Loja de cosméticos up until they ended on January 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific.[30][28]
- Wayfarer pre-order pack (History).
- Expeditionary pre-order pack (History).
- Voyager pre-order pack (History).
- Voyager plus pre-order pack (History).
We offer cosmetics for players who wish to support the project early. The exclusive nature of the limited availability is something I think collectors value. If you buy cosmetics as an MMO player, I know I enjoyed if the cosmetic is rare and not every girl at the party is wearing the same dress. In addition, these cosmetics are used to populate the world through NPC variants and color/texture changes so their offering aligns with our production schedule. The good thing about these packs is they contain no P2W advantages and there is no box cost, so from a mechanics standpoint you do not need to buy them to excel in the game on launch. And also, there are comparable and subjectively more grand cosmetics achievable in game as well.[11] – Steven Sharif
Ashes of Creation Apocalypse cosmetics
Ashes of Creation Apocalypse cosmetic rewards
Progression and experience tracking for participation in Ashes of Creation Apocalypse testing entitled players to earn unique cosmetic rewards. These earned rewards will carry over in player's accounts to live launch of the MMORPG.[32][33]
- Armor appearances.[33]
- Vestuário.[32][34]
- Emotes.[32]
- Freehold building skins.[32]
- Furniture.[32]
- Hairstyles.[34]
- Montarias.[32][34]
- Pets.[35]
- Weapon skins.[32][34][36][37]
One of the ways we want to give back to the Community in participating in this testing is allowing for progress, quests, achievements rewards to be gained in Apocalypse... You will have rewards and quests and achievements that you and your participation and your performance in that game, whether it be the Castle Siege, the Horde Mode or the Battle Royale will earn you cosmetics. There will be costumes. There will be mounts to earn. There will be housing and furniture. There will be emotes. There will be weapon variants. A lot of these are what we have in production for our project Ashes of Creation, we apply some variants and skins for and make them only available through participating in helping us test these different game modes. And they will carry over to your account on the MMORPG.[32] – Steven Sharif
The account used for Apocalypse is the same account used for the MMORPG. Unique skins earned in Apocalypse will be added to the MMORPG as rewards for helping to prepare for the Alpha and Beta stages of Ashes of Creation.[37]
- Cosmetic skins are only be able to be applied to things that have already been earned, crafted or found within the Ashes of Creation MMORPG.[38]
- Skins earned in Apocalypse will be available to apply at certain tiers, levels and/or access points within the MMORPG.[38]
So it's not that you'll be able to equip necessarily an item at level one. These are all cosmetic skins. Again we are not about the pay-to-win or pay-to-convenience life. What we want to do instead is as you earn, craft, or find equipment in the MMORPG, these skins that you've earned in Apocalypse will be available at certain tiers, levels and/or access points. So for example, we have different grades of mounts right. We have the base one land mounts. We have the Royal mounts. We have the flying mounts if you're a mayor or King or Queen. We have legendary mounts. These classes of mounts will have available skins associated with those particular classes... If you have the Ramstider skin that you've earned from Apocalypse, you'll be able to apply that to your first land mount, which will probably be earned within the first five levels you'll earn a land mount. However if you have let's say for example the Gryphon, which will be a glideable mount. I'm sorry what's the name of the what's the name of the night one. The midnight- is the midnight bird or something like? The Nighthunter Gryphon. I think that's it. If you have that skin you'll only be able to apply that skin to a Royal mount so you'll still have to earn these things. Remember our position is that of: You need to earn these things in Ashes first. They're not purchasable or earned outside in Apocalypse and you're granted that immediately. These are skins that you apply to the things you earn in Ashes.[38] – Steven Sharif
These cosmetics reflect the lore of Ashes of Creation Apocalypse, which is set before the fall.[33]
- Armor appearances will reflect the ancient cultures of Verra.[33]
One thing that we announced to our alpha one backers that I know they love clarity on is that we'll also be including progression and experience tracking for participation and testing that will entitle them to some unique cosmetics as well that reflect on the lore of this setting, which is before the fall. So you'll be able to acquire some armors that reflect some of the ancient cultures of Verra that you will earn and hold for live launch.[33] – Steven Sharif
It would be like your ancestors kept these curios for you.[33] – Jeffrey Bard
Examples of some Kickstarter rewards will be included in Ashes of Creation Apocalypse.[39]
Ashes of Creation Apocalypse adventure paths
There are adventure paths (also known as Compendiums) in Ashes of Creation Apocalypse (Battle royale, Castle sieges, Horde mode).[36][37]
- The first chapter of Apocalypse is The Exodus. Between 15 and 20 cosmetic rewards are earnable in every chapter.[34]
- There will be an optional Legendary Path that players can purchase for USD $10 per 10 weeks.[36][34]
- The Legendary Path offers over 50 cosmetic rewards.[41][34]
- Alpha-1 backers and Intrepid pre-order pack owners will be granted a lifetime compendium (battle pass) to the Legendary path.[36][34][41][42]
- Alpha-2, Beta-1 and Beta-2 backers will have access to the first chapter's Legendary path, with over 50 cosmetics available to earn.[36][34]
- Other Kickstarter, summer backers and pre-order pack owners will receive the first chapter of the legendary path for free for 70 days. 71 different cosmetic rewards can be earned starting from December 18th.[41]
- The Legendary path will also have a shop for one-off cosmetics.[41]
- Embers can be used in Ashes of Creation Apocalypse to purchase unique cosmetics or to purchase the Legendary adventure path.[43]
- All Adventure paths in Ashes of Creation Apocalypse allow players to earn embers just for playing. Those embers will carry over into the MMORPG.[43]
Ashes of Creation Apocalypse signup gift
A cosmetic sign-up gift will be implemented during Ashes of Creation Apocalypse.[44]
- This will apply to all regions and all currently registered accounts.[44]
- The gift will be a cosmetic accessory.[45]
As we prepare for the Alpha One Phase 1 deployment, we will be implementing the cosmetic gift for all regions upon sign up, and to all currently registered accounts.[44] – Steven Sharif
Cosmetic items
Cosmetic items allow players to customize their character in-game.[46]
- Eye color.
- Skin color.
- Hair color.
- Hairstyles.
- Tattoos.
- Scars.
Cosmetic items that produce in-game cosmetic effects will also be available.[47]
- Fireworks.
- Picnics.
- Camps.
Dyes
Dyes in Ashes of Creation may refer to:
Dye usage
Dyes are one-time use items that apply a cosmetic color change across all dyeable items that are equipped on a player's character (paper-doll).[50][51][52]
- Two dye channels are provided per character that together influence up to 50% of the gear that is equipped by that character.[50]
- The first dye channel is for lower grade dyes that influence 10 to 20% of armor appearance on that character.[50]
- The second dye channel is for higher tier dyes that influence up to 30% of armor appearance on that character.[50]
- The original design allowed individual items to be dyed with different dyes.[51]
- One of the things that we want to do- again talking about player agency- is we want to give them the ability to change the appearance of their armor sets that they're wearing; and the way we've approached the dye solution is through a channeled system. We have a two channel dye system where the first channel is a lower grade dye that it has influence over between 10 to 20 percent of your overall armor appearance; and then the second channel dye is a higher tier dye that you have to acquire; and by doing so you can influence the remaining thirty percent- up to thirty percent of that armor appearance: So up to a total of fifty percent influence that can occur across all the pieces that you wear. Now one unique approach to the way we're doing this dye system is we're not allowing individual dyes to be applied on individual items, but instead we keep a cohesion across the set by applying that dye channel to your character; and when you equip a piece with your overall character it will assume that dye channel from your paper doll. So you apply the dyes to your character and when you equip a piece of item it will take that dye and it will influence the channel over that particular piece so that it comes into alignment. And what the reason that we're doing that is there's a lot of options with regards to customization for your character appearance, whether it be through transmog, through costumes, through mixing and matching sets and pieces that you can wear; and what we want to avoid is the rainbow effect where these pieces do not look good together and it creates the clown that's walking down the street.[50]
The Kickstarter dyes are sets of unique colors that are not obtainable by players who did not participate in Crowdfunding. These dyes are not usable as normal dyes are. Instead they are used to override the color of another dye obtained in game.[53]
- They are assigned to a character from a user's account management page.[53]
- They do not expire, so they may be used to continually override dye colors.[53]
- Once a dye has been overridden it becomes a bound dye to that character, so the colors cannot be sold for in-game benefit.[53]
- When an item is sold or transferred, color changes are reverted.[53]
Dyeable items
Dyes only affect tagged portions of dyeable armor or cosmetic items.[54]
Outside of wanting to keep maybe some identity from a lore perspective; for example if you have like a white lion's suit of armor, you may not want that white lion suit of armor to be black or blue. So, it's possible. It depends on the costume itself.[54] – Steven Sharif
Seasonal cosmetics
There are seasonal cosmetics in Ashes of Creation.[26][56]
- Seasonal cosmetics can be obtained in-game.[26]
Armor appearance
- Gear is intended to be realistic in appearance.[57][58][59]
- Armor will not be overly sexual in appearance.[57][59]
- I'm more of the mind that it wouldn't really serve a purpose to have bikini plate armor, just in like reality, if you're going to have armor, it should be protective. I think from a fashion statement is enjoyable for some people, but it's a an immersive issue.[58] – Steven Sharif
- Some armor and costumes will be more revealing than others, but there will not be nudity in the game.[61]
- There might be sliders, but there are not gonna be naked sliders.[61] – Steven Sharif
- Each race is getting its custom geo pieces, which then will share thematic components such as color palette, attachments, design filigree. Those types of things will get shared across the geo but generally you're going to see unique races with unique geo.[65] – Steven Sharif
- The appearance of crafted gear is influenced by its rarity.[66]
- Crafters are able to influence what their crafted items look like.[68][69]
- Cosméticos can be used by all races but there may be slight variations to make them work with the body builds of each race.[14]
- Dye cosmetics can be used to change gear colors.[26][70][49]
Gear attachments
Attachments are able to be unlocked as flair pieces to armor to create a customizable look.[75]
- There will be hundreds of attachments available ranging from a small clasp to the front plate of a breast plate.[75]
Items on back and belt
Players can set the appearance priority for the items they wish to show in their Back and Belt slots.[76][77][78]
- Only one item can show at a time, and that is determined by player choice.[73]
- Some ranged or melee abilities require a specific weapon to be equipped. Weapons that are equipped in the character's ranged or offhand slots will automatically swap in and out as required by the skill.[79][80][81][82]
- Players may toggle back and forth between using their ranged and melee slot for basic weapon attacks.[79]
- Idle animations will be selectible by players in the character creator.[83]
Backer only armor skin
All Kickstarter backers receive a unique armor skin set.[84]
Modular armor
Your base look for the character can be pretty boring, but what Steven gave us a challenge with from day one was to make sure even the base look, the t-shirt and pants, looked amazing... This is your zero character, if you will... Then you can go in and customize everything from the shoulder pads to the elbow pads, the belt that goes around them; do you want duel belts, you want to harness the clothes in the front. So every piece you see on here you can actually customize that at the front end. So what we do is we scale that up from zero, ten and twenty... We scale it up and we customize it; and then I want to really stress that each one of those looks as you progress is different. We're not just repurposing the same armor pieces. We're making unique sets that complement each other as you progress.[85] – Mat Broome
Ashes of Creation Apocalypse will have three different armor themes: Plate, leather and robe.[86]
You can actually have three different types of themes: You have plate, you'll have leather and you'll have robe. So for every armor set that we're showing at each one of those tiers, you're actually gonna have nine unique looks to pick from.[86] – Mat Broome
Character appearance
Character appearance can be customized in the character creator (CC)[90] and via in-game salons/barbershops.[91][92]
- We want there to be a lot of room for people to manifest their own identity, to role play how they want to from an appearance standpoint. There's going to be parameters within which you will be able to customize a character. We want the culture and the identity of the races to exist in a range that makes them easily identifiable from other players and other cultures. So, because of that, we have to have a spectrum you can exist on. There will be a lot of hair variants you can do, body art tattoos that you can apply. You'll be able to play with the scales of the facial structure, the bones, the height, width, the body fat percentage. You'll be able to add body hair on different parts of the body. If you want to have hair on your feet, you can dial that up.[93] – Steven Sharif
- Personagens models are focused on realism.[94]
- A player will see a generic character before customization.[95]
- Character designs will have influences from a wide range of cultures, such as European, African and Asian.[96]
- Lolis will not be in the game.[97][98]
- Sliders and other controls, such as color palettes, will offer flexibility in customization but there will be limits based on race, gender, and the artistic style guidelines that the developers are adhering to.[99][100][97][101][102]
- There's going to be constraints to the sliders, so that was one of those big questions as work began on the character creator: How much agency do you want to allow pulling like the lower lip all the way down in this weird deformed look, or having like [an] offset cheek that's just asymmetrical to the side of the face. There's not going to be the ability or agency to create those types of weird character things. However you will have the ability to move, slide, change, grow, decrease all those components, but they'll be kept in a more reasonable and presented way in the same sense you won't be able to change the appearance of the dwarven, nor the Dünir or the Niküan races to, in my opinion, create what would be traditionally considered a Loli character.[97] – Steven Sharif
Emoji
Emoji adds additional flare either for chat or character representation (social animations).[103][104][46]
- Race and class emoji packs were available in the Kickstarter and Crowdfunding do verão campaigns at the Explorer level and above.[46]
- There will be role-playing emoji such as dice rolling.[105]
Skins
Racial skins
Racial skins are cosmetics that enable a player to change their character's racial appearance.[106][107][108][109]
- Racial skins transform the appearance of the character to that skin. The original racial appearance of the character is entirely replaced.[106]
- Racial skins are not costumes. This means that armor and character customization is possible on these.[110]
- There are plans to create other racial skins.[113]
- Some potential future ideas include undead and werewolf (lycan) skins.[114]
- Racial skins can be toggled on and off.[109]
- You're changing your race over to that, which means that you won't look uniquely different if you were a Vek angel or a Human angel.[106] – Steven Sharif
Freehold building skins
Freehold building skins were offered as Kickstarter and Crowdfunding do verão rewards and were available in pre-order packs.[117][118][119][120][121]
- Freehold building skins can also be achieved in-game.[122]
- Freehold skins can be applied to blueprints matching the type of freehold building: housing, artisanship, and business.[116][122][124][117][18][125][17]
- Cosmetics that we have sold as part of different packs throughout the past- our pre-order system: Those cosmetics are split into three primary categories: housing, artisanship, and business; and we will have a breakdown that we're going to be releasing of the cosmetics that have come previously and which categories they exist in, but players will have the option to override the appearance of a blueprint that exists within one of those categories with an associated cosmetic skin; and that is obviously not just something that can be purchased through the pre-order system, but also can be achieved in-game as well- our cosmetics that can be applied to specific building types. And we don't get as granular where, let's say, you might have a shrine cosmetic, and you have, let's say, a blacksmith building that you wouldn't be able to apply the shrine to the blacksmith building. If the shrine exists in the artisanship lane you can apply it to any artisanship type building, but not to a house or business. so giving a little bit of additional context there.[122] – Steven Sharif
- The vast majority of cosmetic freehold skins apply to homestead buildings.[128]
- A planned feature may allow multiple buildings to be replaced by a single large cosmetic skin.[129]
- Cosmetics that are are very large in size- we will have a system that's not been developed yet, but we've been planning for this: we'll have a system where multiple buildings can be occupied space-wise by the larger cosmetic. So, a cosmetic might replace the visual appearance of one particular building, but then you'll be able to have that footprint occupy multiple buildings to replace the visual appearance. So that way you're still utilizing the similar amount of space.[122] – Steven Sharif
- Baronies won't impose any appearance restrictions on freehold buildings.[130]
Skins de caravana
Skins de caravana ("Pimp my caravan") were available in the cash shop (cosmetic store).[132]
- The skin changes the appearance of an in-game mount and in-game caravan that are hooked up to each other.[133][134]
- The caravan and mount components of the skin are not able to be utilized separately.[133][134]
- Building, ship, caravan and mount cosmetics require an in-game item to be obtained first to apply the cosmetic.[17][18]
You'll need your own creature and caravan hooked up to each other, and then the caravan cosmetic skin goes over all of them to make it look like what's pictured. you're not able to split out separately that caravan mount skin, hence why you'd want the separate mount skin if you wanted to ride it independently.[133] – Sarah Flanagan
Ship skins
Ship skins apply to certain ship types.[135]
- Building, ship, caravan and mount cosmetics require an in-game item to be obtained first to apply the cosmetic.[17][18]
Guild hall skins
Vestuário
Vestuário were available for purchase from the cosmetic store.[119]
- They do not include any weapons pictured.[154]
- Costumes are one piece outfits that cover all gear slots regardless of armor type.[155][153][156][157][158]
- Full costumes do not mix and match pieces.[158] – Steven Sharif
- Costumes don't have a level restriction or require an in-game item to be obtained first.[17][18]
- Costumes are not gender or race locked, but can adapt based on a character's gender and race.[159][160][14][15]
- Racial skins appear along with any costume appearances.[112][110]
- All hoods and head slot items, whether part of a complete costume or individual gear, will have the option to be shown or hidden on the character by the player.[161][153][162]
