Dunewing Falcon
Dunewing Falcon was a cosmetic pet in a pre-order pack.[4]
The Dunewing Falcon pierces through the sandstorm to find its prey.[4]
Among the Vaelune’s many pursuits, hunting is especially popular. They use specialized beasts to great effect, including the Dunewing Falcon. A fierce bird of prey, its physiology is well-adapted to survive Verra's blistering deserts. Its eyes are keen, and can spot the slightest hint of movement - even creatures wriggling beneath the sands. Making its nest in the rocky dunes, its talons are sharp enough to carve out the arid stone necessary to make its home. Most striking, however, are its four massive wings. Even in the midst of a raging sandstorm, the Dunewing is able to maintain its airborne stability without much detriment. The Dunewing is an incredibly hardy bird and is valued by the Vaelune for its intelligence, allowing for more efficient training, and even the use of more complex commands.[1]
How the Vaelune originally came upon the Dunewing is a treasured story shared with wonder around the evening fire. A Vaelune caravan trekking through the desert was set upon by bandits. The travelers managed to slay their assailants, and though they had almost made their way through the sandy paths, the caravan had no choice but to abandon the majority of its goods in order to prioritize saving the wounded. They would simply have to return for the shipment after reaching their destination.[1]
Days later, the merchants returned to the caravan with a heavy complement of bodyguards. The goods were a little worn from the rasping winds, but otherwise untouched - except there seemed to be a clattering coming from within the caravan. Fearing the worst, the caravan was quickly surrounded. The protective tarp was slowly pushed aside, and the Vaelune captain soon found himself staring down a rather large bird of prey, rummaging through the goods with its beak and talons. Part of the shipment contained some salted meat, and it seemed the aroma was strong enough to gain this creature’s attention.[1]
Many Vaelune have experience in hunting, but very few of the beasts they currently employed were acclimated to the harshness of the desert. Seeing this as a rare opportunity, the captain took it upon himself to try and gain the creature’s trust with some of the food in his pack. The falcon looked at the food, then shifted its unflinching gaze to the captain. It stared for quite a while, as if to take full measure of the man that stood before him. Then, the falcon steadily stepped forward and accepted the humble offering. Reassured, the captain and his men returned to the encampment with their new ally in tow.[1]
Since then, Vaelune hunters have cultivated these aerial stalkers, allowing them to more adeptly travel through the Verran deserts. In addition to their speed and ferocity, the Dunewing can be used to scout the surrounding shifting sands - trained to circle overhead if there are any possible threats, thus granting the Vaelune a far higher measure of awareness. Undeniably versatile, few creatures have risen in popularity quite as quickly as the Dunewing Falcon.[1]

Cosméticos
Cosméticos provide a wide array of customization in Ashes of Creation.[7]
- There are no pay-to-win gameplay benefits from any purchasable items.[6][8]
- All skin cosmetic items are cosmetic items only and do not grant the user any other benefit. The lore text is flavor text, and background of the creatures and items in the world of Verra.[5]
- Types of cosmetics:
- Equitable cosmetics, both from a quantity and quality standpoint, are achievable through in-game means.[9][10] Cosmetics achievable in-game will be on-par, and in the case of legendary skins, even more elaborate than shop items.[11][12][6]
- I want to make sure that equitable cosmetics both from a quantity and quality standpoint are achievable through in-game achievements. Time, effort should let you be happy with what you can accomplish.[10] – Steven Sharif
- In my opinion quality of cash shop cosmetics should be equal to in game achievable cosmetics, but offer a diverse selection of unique looks.[13] – Steven Sharif
- There will be legendary cosmetics that are only achievable in-game that will never be offered in the cosmetic shop.[11][12][6]
- The most grand looking cosmetics will be from in-game achievment only.[14] – Steven Sharif
- There will not be recolors or material swaps on the monthly cosmetics as a means to populate in-game achievements.[11]
- There will be variants of the monthly cosmetics for NPCs and Mobs.[11][15]
- Component pieces of cosmetic armor may be reused in other in-game achievable gear sets.[11]
- From an armor standpoint, we cut armor sets up into many different pieces. These pieces can sometimes be used as part of other sets, that may include helmets, wrists, gloves etc. So while you will not see an achievable white version of the corvid castigator set in the game for example, you may see its shoulder piece used in another set, or its leggings, or wrist piece used in another set (not every piece as to form the whole set, but perhaps a couple pieces). This would be difficult to notice at first glance, due to the material, texture and color variation used, but this modular approach to content creation makes achieving a wide variety of looks achievable for an MMORPG of our size.[11] – Steven Sharif
- Different variants of store purchased cosmetic creatures (Pets and Montarias) may exist in the wild.[16][17]
- While the exact same skin will not be available again in the future once it's gone from the Shop, these skins are all variants of creatures that you can expect to see across Verra - so perhaps you will find one with a similar style in-game![16] – Sarah Flanagan
- Cosméticos can be used by all races but there may be slight variations to make them work with the body builds of each race.[18][19]
- There will not be mascot looking/furry cosmetics.[20]
- It's important to remember, Ashes is a NO-BOX COST subscription only game, with an optional cosmetic marketplace. This achieves a few things from a monetization model. Having a lower barrier to entry for players to try the game when they don't have to fork out $60 for the box price is good, our box price is 0$. This also places an emphasis on the game's retention and our continual updates and content creation to keep players playing and staying subscribed (a put your money where your mouth is sort of philosophy for us as a company). It also means players don't have to spend $60 every time there is an expansion.[11] – Steven Sharif
- Is there an answer that satisfies everyone? Nope. And that's ok. We are open and transparent with our philosophies and business model. You know what you are getting with Ashes and to me, given my experiences in other games, it is a nice breath of fresh air.[11] – Steven Sharif
- Costume and pet cosmetics don't have a level restriction. Building, ship, caravan and mount cosmetics require an in-game item to be obtained first to apply the cosmetic.[21][22]
- I know there have been quite a few questions regarding cosmetics over the years. As we get further along in development, we'll be providing more specific information regarding what specific buildings, items, etc., you can place each cosmetic on. We'll update this for all past items.[23] – Margaret Krohn
- Cosméticos are not tradeable with other players but can be reassigned to other characters (alts) within the same account.[24][25]
- As melhores skins serão obteníveis dentro do jogo.[37]
As melhores skins serão obteníveis dentro do jogo (obviamente "melhor" é subjetivo, então eu diria as mais ornamentadas e detalhadas/únicas).[37] – Steven Sharif
